Box-counting dimension

For each box size ε, count the boxes that intersect the attractor. Slope of log N(ε) vs log(1/ε) on the scaling region equals the box-counting fractal dimension D₀.

Attractor

log-log fit: log N(ε) vs log(1/ε)

Box-counting dimension

D₀ = lim_{ε → 0}  log N(ε) / log(1/ε)

Cover the attractor with boxes of side ε, count how many are non-empty,
fit slope on log N vs log(1/ε).

Estimated D₀ for Hénon attractor: 1.223
Known value: ≈ 1.261
